  1. Equipment Manager

The Equipment Manager is vital to helping a Scout Group run effectively. Scout Groups get up to all sorts of exciting activities, and we have lots of equipment that needs looking after. This can include camping equipment (tents, stoves, shelters, lamps, etc.) to games equipment in order to run sections each week, to cooking equipment (pots and pans etc). As Equipment Manager it would be your job to ensure you keep an accurate inventory of this equipment, and seek approval to purchase new equipment, or repair it when necessary.

You would have close connections with the Scout Group’s Manager (the Group Scout Leader) and Section Leaders who need access to the equipment for Camps or particular activities. The role might suit someone who previous looked after or maintained camping or hiking equipment or who currently participates or is interested in these activities.

  1. Support to Group Treasurer

This role is to support with some of the administration of the Group’s account and finances, including retaining the Group’s insurances up to date and aligned to current requirements.

This role could easily be combined with the Beaver, Cub and Scouts representatives for the Executive.

  1. Beaver, Cub and Scouts representatives for the Executive

The Executive Committee meets every term and makes decisions about the Group, fund raising and moving the Group forward. It is important to have two representatives from each section at the executive Committee to make sure all sections are represented when making decisions on behalf of the Group. We are looking for representatives for each of the sections who would be able to give their points of view as parents or guardians of young people of this age.

  1. Social secretary role

We are looking for a volunteer to act as Social Secretary for the Group. Responsibility is to organise ad hoc social events aimed at parents  and guardians as well as children to include the June AGM plus 1 or 2 other events per annum i.e. Red Nose Day or a games night.

  1. Beaver Scout Leader

Beaver Scouts are our youngest members, boy and girls aged 6 to 8 years. They meet fortnightly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities. They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.

This is an exciting role involves working with a small leadership team to enable the delivery of an exciting programme for the section members, with many outdoor opportunities. You will not only benefit from supporting young people, but also from gaining new skills and developing yourself. All of which apply to your everyday working life.

  1. Cubs Scout Leader

Cub Scouts are the second section of the Scouts group and are young boys and girls aged 8 and 10 and a half. They meet fortnightly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities. They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps.

This is an exciting role involves working with a small leadership team to enable the delivery of an exciting programme for the section members, with many outdoor opportunities. You will not only benefit from supporting young people, but also from gaining new skills and developing yourself. All of which apply to your everyday working life.

  1. Scout Leader

Scouts are the third section of the Scouts group and are young boys and girls aged 10 and a half to 14 years old.  They meet fortnightly to take part in a wide range of activities to help build confidence, self-esteem and to learn important life skills and leadership skills. They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps.

This is an exciting role involves working with a small leadership team to enable the delivery of an exciting programme for the section members, with many outdoor opportunities. You will not only benefit from supporting young people, but also from gaining new skills and developing yourself. All of which apply to your everyday working life.
